India's new Vice-President, Mr Hamid Ansari, has sent Indian newspapers in a tizzy. While addressing a seminar on "Emerging security concerns in West Asia", he said United States' policies were aiding terrorism. According to him, US unpopularity levels are alaramingly high in Muslim and Arab countries and its intentions are suspected.
The newspapers say that he voiced a non-establishment view and helped raise diplomatic eyebrows.
But we think he is a friend in need who is a friend indeed of USA, as he did a yeoman's service by appraising it of ground realities.
